CONFIRMED: New Friday The 13th Film Will Have You Meet The Voorhees Family!

Thanks to the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 in theaters this weekend, Friday The 13th fans have been getting a steady stream of new film updates via interviews with Platinum Dunes Producers Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. Just this past week we have learned that the upcoming film might be an origin tale that includes Jason's father. Well, all of that has been CONFIRMED in the latest interview conducted by Yahoo Movies!

According to Andrew Form in the interview, we are going back to the beginning and finding out all of the secrets of the Voorhees family. In fact, Jason's father is named by Form as Elias during the conversation! That is a pretty cool continuity thread back to Jason Goes To Hell and hopefully fans are ready for a full look at Pamela, Elias and Jason Voorhees.

The film is slated to start filming sometime this Fall, which makes the January 13, 2017 release date look more and more unlikely to happen. Expect one final release date shift, possibly to October 13, 2017 in the near future.

Are you excited to go back to the beginning and get a prequel type of film? Look for director and casting announcements to begin later this summer.
