Framing Issue Reveals More Jason Goes To Hell

11.24.2011 - Friday the 13th films are notorious for containing minor and sometimes major editing mishaps that leave certain scenes seemingly out of place. These scenes are always used for numerous debates and conversations among the fans. There are also cropping issues that can sometimes pop up on film that reveal more about a scene than what is supposed to be seen by the viewing audience.

Such a cropping issue exists with the German DVD release of Jason Goes To Hell. The US DVD of the film is presented in a widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio and everything intended for audiences is present in frame. In talking with Mario Kirner, owner of the Friday the 13th Props Museum, the German bootleg and UK DVD is displayed in a 4:3 aspect ratio. This ratio reveals some objects in frame that shouldn’t be seen. Check out the image below and see the stunt mat that the Jessica Kimble character falls onto that should be out of frame.

I investigated instantly the "DVD with same screen ratio" which I own.

The results of an investigation are as follows....

These results of an investigation hope to be useful to Mr.JASONSFURY......

  2. It really is amazing how something like this can happen. It is funny, though, and kinf of cool to see how they did the scene.

Hey daizab, cool comparison on your web page. I like the menu screens in Japanese.

  4. I`m not sure without throwing in the German&UK DVDs again, but I think you can see the female stunt performer at the beginning running with boots (intended to be off frame) too when escaping from Jason in the cabin. While the close up`s are bare foot.
