Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood Jason Cowl Going Up For Auction In August

 Going up for auction this month is a very rare and sought after production piece from Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood. We have seen numerous behind the scenes images of Jason actors wearing their cowls without the hockey mask for the various films in the franchise, but it is extremely difficult to find any such picture of Kane Hodder with just the cowl on without the additional makeup and teeth appliances for The New Blood. With that being said, it is exciting to see that his screen worn cowl is finally up for auction in a few weeks.

The New Blood featured Kane Hodder's first of four franchise appearances as Jason, a role he is the only person ever to reprise. Unusually, director Buechler also served as the line producer for the film's special makeup effects unit, who designed Jason's necrotic prostheses and makeup appliances.

This ornately detailed cowl originates from Planet Hollywood. It is constructed from foam latex and spandex, hand-painted and textured to resemble rotted and scarred flesh and inset with a metal rod on the interior for removing from the wearer. Following production, the cowl was mounted to a velvet-lined bust for stability and display. In addition to its intentional distressing, the cowl shows visible evidence of wear consistent with on-set use, handling, and age, including cracking, crumbling, and stiffening throughout the foam latex.
