First News On Crystal Lake Series Filming Schedule And Discovered Shooting Location

The new Friday The 13th streaming series Crystal Lake is mere weeks away from the first filming taking place and I am very excited to see the first official project of the franchise begin production since 2008 (when Friday The 13th 2009 started filming). So, what do we know so far about the show? 

Brad Caleb Kane is the showrunner steering the streaming ship for the franchise, and thus far, we have official casting announcements for Linda Cadellini portraying Mrs. Voorhees and William Catlett portraying Levon Brooks (rumored to be the sheriff of Crystal Lake but not confirmed). More casting of main characters will sure to be flooding social media channels in the coming weeks, but we have some fun and interesting news to pass along to our readers and fans will sure to be excited for what we have so far.

Our site was first made aware of casting calls related to Crystal Lake for actors in late April, for which we first discovered the working title of the show is Mama's Boy. At that point it was finally confirmed that the series would be filming in New Jersey and in the Summer of 2025. It was great to have that confirmed from what we had been told this past Winter. Now, even more casting calls have been discovered thanks to a fellow fan on Twitter that goes by the handle festy1986. Here is the new information we have for the show based on their information.

- The show is set in the 1970's, but multiple organizations reference the year 1971 specifically.

- The full tentative shoot for the first season of Crystal Lake will take place as early as June 18th and conclude on November 21st (This can obviously change based on a plethora of factors during filming)

- The first week of filming, which looks to begin June 18th, will take place in West Milford, New Jersey. There are a large number of principal and background characters filling these first couple of days which look to make some of the settings very likely to be at a camp!

- Below is a breakdown of various characters that were being cast the past several weeks for the first days of filming which begin around June 18th:

1. partying, kissing, and "friend" teens for the 1970's

2. 1970's summer camp kids

3. Featured 1970's swimming campers

4. 1970's experienced lifeguards

5. Canoeing and Archery camp counselors

- Besides the first few actors being announced, one casting call site references the casting directors involved in the talent search as well as the First Assistant Director named Greg Edmunds. Greg has worked on a number of extremely popular streaming shows recently, including Reacher, Gen V, and The Handmaids Tale.

For now, this is all of the information we have been able to find and put together for everyone, but it is a lot and is pretty exciting to see the show come together in this advanced state. 

For those wondering, West Milford, New Jersey is roughly an hour away from Blairstown and it would be really great if Brad and team can get some nostalgic shots from Blairstown into the show's first season.
