Now, Wompstomp films needs the fans help to cross the finish line while providing perks and incentives to complete this one-of-a-kind, animated take on Jason Voorhees. Read below for all of the information about completing the project and the new perks involved.
Womp Stomp Films, the independent production company behind the critically acclaimed Never Hike Alone fan film series, has unveiled a new trailer (Below) for their next terrifying installment Ghosts in the Fog, a 10-minute 2D animated short that brings horror icon Jason Voorhees to life in a bold, new animated style.
A new crowdfunding campaign will launch via Indiegogo on May 13, 2025, to raise $50,000 to complete the project, which is already in production. The campaign runs through June 15, 2025. Friday fans can sign up to be notified on the campaign’s pre-launch page.
Set years before the events of Never Hike Alone, the short follows a group of hikers who become lost in a mysterious fog and wander into the cursed grounds of Camp Crystal Lake. There, they encounter the Ghost of Crystal Lake and the terrifying legend himself, Jason Voorhees.
“Ghosts in the Fog is the first time Jason Voorhees has ever been featured in an animated story based on Friday the 13th,” says co-director Vincente DiSanti, who also co-wrote the film with Diego Valenzuela and co-director Juan Rivera. “Bringing Jason into the animated space has been a passion of mine since the launch of the first Never Hike Alone. The project has come a long way since we first announced it, and now we’re excited to partner with fans to bring this project to life!”
The short will feature voice performances by Chelsea Rebecca and Zoran Gvojic of the Dead Meat Youtube Channel, as well as long-time animation actor Diego Valenzuela. Animation is being handled by Mako Animation, along with 3D support from Armáss Productions, and additional production support from Cinescare Productions.
The crowdfunding campaign offers Friday fans exclusive perks, including the highly requested Never Hike Alone Box Set — a five-disc Blu-ray collection featuring artwork by Josh Beamish and remastered versions of Never Hike Alone, Never Hike in the Snow, Never Hike Alone 2, The Ghost Cut, and The Final Cut. Ghosts in the Fog will be included on The Final Cut disc and is slated for release in early 2026 alongside the box set.
A select number of fans will also have the opportunity to lend their voices to backer-only commentary tracks, included with a slew of new special features.
“A box set was the most requested item by our backers since we announced the idea for the series,” says DiSanti. “In the end, it was a long-time backer, Kyden Ritchie, who helped us find a domestic vendor to design and build the package. We truly have the best fans in the world.”
Fans can visit the Indiegogo campaign page to sign up for updates and be the first to support Ghosts in the Fog when it launches on May 13.
