Friday The 13th: The Game Releasing 'Roy' Jason And Pinehurst Map From 'A New Beginning'

Gun Media announced recently that fans can soon take on the role of Roy Burns, the Jason Voorhees copy-cat killer from Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. The film has come a long way since it's initial release in 1985, gaining more acceptance over the past three decades. Figures and masks from the film have just started to be licensed the past few years and now this new announcement for Friday The 13th: The Game has solidified the film's place in the franchise.

For this new update, Roy isn’t an unstoppable killer in the game (although he was portrayed as such in the film). While the character's strengths are throwing knives, stalking and his ability to run, Roy’s weaknesses are defense, grip strength and stun resistance. Gun Media decided that Roy's weapon of choice for the game will be hedge trimmers. The other great news is that a new map will also be released and now fans will be able to play in the "other" barn in the franchise.

Players will be able to explore the Pinehurst Youth Development Center, which was Roy's and Vic's hunting grounds in A New Beginning. The update arrives January 30th, at no additional cost, for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Content will unlock at level 0, so campers and killers of all levels can enjoy.
