The 2001 DVD Cover Debacle Of Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part 6

Back in 2000 and 2001, Paramount released the Friday The 13th films for the first time on DVD. Getting the films in the digital format was a huge deal for many fans who were ready to watch their favorite entries in the franchise without the grain of the VHS tape. The first four films were released with their original cover art seen on the VHS boxes, but the later four Paramount films were sold with redesigned cover art that was poorly conceived and quite frankly looked rushed and put together by people who had no idea what the films were.

The lack of extras on the DVD's withstanding, we as devoted fans were still able to overlook the miscalculated cover redesigns to have our beloved films on a digital format. However, there was one glaring mistake that was so egregious that it has to be discussed almost fifteen years later. On the back cover of the 2001 DVD release of Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part 6, an image of copycat killer Roy Burns from the previous film A New Beginning was used to portray Jason from Part 6!

Maybe you could forgive the designers as just not knowing the films and grabbing an image at random for the cover, but the fact they colored in the chevrons on Roy's hockey mask to red from the original blue sort of shows they were aware they had the wrong Jason in the design. Look at the DVD cover below and let us know what you think of this glaring mistake and what your thoughts are about how this could have happened?
