Neca Friday The 13th Part 2 Retro 8 Inch Jason Figure Review

"The Body Count Continues"

As one of my favourites in the series, I was excited to see that Neca was going to be releasing another Friday The 13th Part 2 Jason, this time in the popular Mego Retro figure style. With the success of the Friday The 13th Part 3 and Friday The 13th: A New Beginning Roy figures in this style, I am glad they chose to do a Part 2 Jason as well. The overall look of this film and the look of Jason has always been a favourite with me. From the look of the movie to the cast and the music, this was one I was really looking forward to. So sit down, put your marshmallows on a stick, feel the warmth of the campfire, and let's listen to the legend of Jason and Camp Blood.

Packaging
==============
The first thing I want to mention is the artwork for this figure. I absolutely love the look of Jason and Mrs Voorhees' head on the alter as it captures one of the best moments in the film's climatic ending sequence. I think this was the perfect choice for the artwork for this figure's packaging. Much like the Part 5 Roy figure, it comes in the same clam shell resealable packaging and again I did experience the same minor issues with opening it as I did with the Roy figure's packaging. However, this is just a minor thing and I still believe that all future figures should definitely be released in this style of packaging.

The Figure
==============
As one of my favourite looks of Jason, I'm going to start with the sack mask. This part of the figure is excellent. I really think this is where the figure benefits from the retro mego style format and using actual material. It gives it that authentic film look, and alongside the plaid shirt and overalls, it hits every spot on detail to the look of the character from the film. Another feature of the figure, much like other Jason figures, is that the mask(bag) is removable and reveals a great sculpt of Jason's face, displaying Carl Fullerton's makeup on actor Warrington Gillette. The only thing I wish they could have done was use material for the figure's hair, instead of plastic, but it isn't a big issue to me. The one issue I have found, much like in the Roy figure, is that it is not easy to position the figure's arms into poses with the weapons. They both seem very stiff and not as movable as the other style figures when it comes to posing and holding the weapons. Other than that the figure itself is awesome.

Accessories
==============
Jason comes equipped with machete, pitchfork and pickaxe. All recognizable from the films and I think suit this character very well. The detail on each weapon is very well done and look great with the figure.

Overall
===========
I have to say that with each figure that Neca releases in the Friday The 13th series, they show without a shadow of a doubt why they are the go-to company for anything Jason. From the sculpt of the figure, to the artwork, as well as the packaging and accessories, it is no wonder why they make the best Jason figures around. This new addition to the set is no exception.
