Sean S. Cunningham to Make Rare Appearance at Rue Morgue's Festival of Fear

It seems like the Friday the 13th franchise is represented at each and every major convention on the circuit.  Rarely is a fan conference held without the presence of a Jason actor or final girl signing 8 by 10’s or mugging for photos with overly energized Crystal Lake fans.  But once in a while, a Friday face pops up to join the con world making the appearance a must-attend event.

Such is the case this fall at Toronto’s Fan Expo.  Rue Morgue magazine, the Canadian horror equivalent of Fangoria, has always been a staple at this multi-genre convention by hosting their own Festival of Fear featuring such high profile past guests as Robert Englund, John Carpenter, George A. Romero, Cassandra Peterson and many others.  The Festival of Fear not only occupies a large geographical space on the convention center floor but also hosts a bevy of Q&A’s, screenings, and night events typically hosted by the genre guest of honour.

News broke this weekend that the Festival of Fear had landed a rare appearance by Friday series creator and original director, Mr. Sean S. Cunningham himself!  Cunningham will join previously announced horror guests Bruce (coolest man ever?) Campbell, Lisa and Louise (The Shining twins!) Burns, and various The Walking Dead cast including David (The Governor) Morrissey, Danai (Michonne) Gurira, Chandler (Carl) Riggs, and Henry actor Michael (Merle) Rooker.

Hosted at the massive Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the Fan Expo will take place over four days from August 28th to 31st, 2014.  While the horror schedule has yet to be announced, it is expected that Cunningham will not only meet and greet fans but will also host a Q&A session.  Tickets are available for the event now via the website with further guest and event announcements to come.
