Platinum Dunes And Rumored Friday The 13th Director Negotiating For Ninja Turtles

Friday The 13th 2009 Producers Platinum Dunes have been trying for years to get a new sequel off the ground for the Crystal Lake franchise and to this point there has been no success. In the mean time, PD has been developing other film properties for production as their ninth film Vigilandia started filming Tuesday. Producer Brad Fuller was answering questions about Platinum Dunes' upcoming projects on Twitter last week for which a fan mentioned their hope that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Birds and Friday The 13th Part 2 would be starting soon. Brad replied the following.

" I feel good about the first one. Pretty good about the birds. F13 feels dead."

The Friday The 13th comment is less than encouraging, but that "first one" looks to be on the fast track to becoming reality as Variety reported late Tuesday night that once rumored Friday The 13th 2009 Director Jonathan Liebesman is in talks to direct the live action reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes, Jonathan was once rumored to direct the latest Jason Voorhees film, but later gave way to Marcus Nispel. Jonathan has a history with Platinum Dunes, directing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning back in 2006 and he also is preparing to see his big budget sequel Wrath Of The Titans released in theaters in March of this year.

If all parties can come to an agreement soon, look for the new Turtles movie to be the next film going into production for Platinum Dunes after Vigilandia. Can Jason make an appearance with the turtles at least?

  1. There goes another classic from my childhood..... I like what Liebesman has done with Battle: LA and Wrath Of the Titans looks solid, so hopefully he can make a kick ass Turtles movie. Friday The 13th Part 2 next?
