Meet The Many Actors To Portray Jason Voorhees in Crystal Lake Season 1

We hope everyone is enjoying the new Friday The 13th show Crystal Lake! As with some of the films in the franchise, it takes more than just one actor to portray Jason for a production and creating an episodic series with different ages and sizes of Jason Voorhees is no different.

Four-Year-Old Jason

In Episode 7: Friday..., viewers are taken back in time to witness the beginning, where Pamela is pregnant and ultimately gives birth to Jason. Of course, Jason has deformities due to the "treatments" administered by the evil Bellflower company. A significant amount of time in the episode takes place when Jason is four, and to represent Jason at this age, a pair of actors were selected to don the prosthetics for the characters look at the young age.

Actors Kaiden Cullen and Theo Lonsdale portray Jason at age 4 in a number of pivotal scenes in Episode 7. They both give great performances as an innocent and tortured young boy needing rescue from Bellflower.

Pre-Teen Jason

The most known actor to play Jason Voorhees during production of Crystal Lake is Callum Vinson. He portrays the character in almost every episode of Season 1, either in the events leading up to his drowning, flashbacks with different characters, or simply living in the twisted mind of Pamela Voorhees. Callum does a phenomenal job of showcasing Jason's raw innocence and pure wonder at life, and it is so sad to see him bullied and be self-conscious of his appearance.

The young actor described the process and duration for which it took to wear the 18-pound prosthetic to become Jason, and the kid is a real trooper.

Episode 3: Part III

Teen Jason

We broke the news on this actor portraying Jason in the series late last year which did not sit well with A24, but at the time we were told it was for adult Jason. Almost adult Jason, but close enough, as Zachary Branch plays the near adult size version of the character in numerous scenes for Episodes 2 - 6!

Zach performs as Jason in scenes such as when Enos is accidentally shot by fellow hunters in Episode 3: Part 3 as a blurred Jason is scene standing over him. He also represents Jason when stalking the hippie Willow in the woods who eventually gets caught in a trap in Episode 4: A New Beginning.

During Episode 5: The New Blood, he is in the woods staring at and speaking to Grace when she is tripping out on Acid, trying to find her way back to Camp Crystal Lake. His role as Jason during this iteration of the character is definitely more in the shadows which is why his mask looks a bit more generic because it is not needed in any good lighting at all.

Adult (Large) Jason

It is safe to assume that every fan was waiting to see this version of Jason Voorhees back in action and it was fun to see Jason wearing the sack mask once again. In Episode 8: The Final Chapter, our larger-than-life slasher appears in the last 15 minutes and does so with some brutal kills.

Adult Jason is portrayed by two people, stuntman David Armstrong and actor Jonathan Tison.

David plays Jason during the scene when he is in the road and forces the car carrying Elias, Pam, and the Bellflower goons off of the road. He is also involved when those same two Bellflower goons are killed in the woods.

Jonathan depicts Jason during the scenes when he encounters Elias and Pamela and is wearing the prosthetics for Jason's mangled face and head.
