Friday The 13th 1980 Writer Victor Miller Passes Away

Very sad news has been reported tonight as Friday The 13th 1980 writer Victor Miller has passed away. Victor Miller died Monday in Alameda, California. He was 86 years old.

Victor worked his early writing career on a number of feature film projects with Friday The 13th creator Sean Cunningham. The two eventually collaborated on the original Friday The 13th film as the burgeoning slasher sub-genre was taking shape after the success of Halloween in the late 1970’s. Victor never worked on a horror story previously, but helped craft one of the most memorable scripts and films in the horror genre.

 After the success of Friday The 13th, Victor went on to win a number of Emmy’s for his work in daytime television. Most recently, he is most known for his famous fight for the rights to his script for the original Friday The 13th film and how it affected numerous projects tied to the franchise. 

Fans owe Victor a lot of credit for the story he crafted and the characters he created for the 1980 film. His work will now be memorialized in the coming weeks with the quasi-prequel series Crystal Lake.

Miller was born in New Orleans, La., in 1940. He is survived by his wife, Tina Thurston Miller, and his two sons, Ian and Josh
