Friday The 13th: The Musical Returns After Thirteen Years!

 Thirteen years ago (it's not lost on us) we wrote about a really cool project from Connecticut College where a full-on musical was produced using story elements from several Friday The 13th films (Watch the play by visiting our original story). Now the same creator is back with a brand-new production!

Friday the 13th The Musical Parody is back! We're performing a staged reading which is open to the public on October 30th and 31st this year in Simsbury, CT through the Theatre Guild of Simsbury.

This is a significantly revised and rewritten version of the show, and I think it's the strongest it's been. 

Here's the plot synopsis:

After years of bloodshed and carnage, the citizens of Crystal Lake, New Jersey have had enough! Having defeated Jason Voorhees the previous summer, the town put a set of rules in place outlawing all of the tropes and cliches commonly found in slasher movie scenarios: no sex, no drugs, no partying, no nothing!

It’s Friday, August 13th and the summer is nearly over. Camp Crystal Lake has, for the first time in decades, had a successful summer season. The townspeople of Crystal Lake, previously employed as police officers, paramedics, and crazy prophets of dooms, have all found new jobs. All seems well and good... until Jason Voorhees is once again resurrected!

The hockey-mask-wearing killer heads back to camp, just as the cracks begin to show in the resolve of the counselors. The hot couple committed to abstinence aren’t sure they can make it one more night. The nerdy jokester just wants to paint the town red. And the pure, capable girl, who would under normal circumstances be the heroine of this summer slaughter, is feeling out of place and without a purpose.

Once Jason arrives back at camp, chaos and typical slasher movie shenanigans ensue!
