Crystal Lake Series To World Premier At TIFF

 Announced today is that Crystal Lake (the A24/Peacock Friday the 13th prequel series) is receiving its World Premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as part of the Primetime program of episodic storytelling. The festival runs September 10–20, 2026. Primetime highlights television series (typically screening one or two episodes, often with cast/creator conversations). 

The series is created by Brad Caleb Kane whos is also the showrunner.

Directed by Michael Lennox (episodes 1–3; he is credited alongside Kane in the TIFF announcement), Celine Held & Logan George (episodes 4–6), and Quyen Tran (episodes 7–8). 

Crystal Lake is produced by A24.

Starring: Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, with Callum Vinson as young Jason Voorhees, plus William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, Gwendolyn Sundstrom, and others (including Nick Cordileone as Crazy Ralph). 

Premise: A 1970s-set prequel/slasher series exploring events around Camp Crystal Lake and the origins/grief of Pamela Voorhees after her son Jason’s drowning, blending psychological thriller elements with the franchise’s horror legacy. 

Full eight-episode season premieres on Peacock (U.S.) on October 15, 2026 (all episodes at once); also on Sky Atlantic/NOW in the UK/Ireland. 

The 2026 Primetime TIFF slate leans heavily into horror and suspense. It opens with the world premiere of the sea-creature mystery Below (Jesse McKeown; starring Josh Hartnett, set in Newfoundland) and closes with Mike Flanagan’s Carrie reimagining (starring Summer H. Howell). Crystal Lake is one of the other world premieres in the lineup, which also includes titles such as Slow Horses, YAGA, American Hostage, and more.
