How Did You Become A Fan Of Friday The 13th?

There are so many film franchises that have been created since motion pictures became a Hollywood machine in the early 20th century that it is hard to surmise how a person can actually choose a favorite. This especially holds true when sequalitis hit Tinseltown in the late 1970's and has carried through to present day. With so many different stories and characters on celluloid and now in digital media, I wondered how one determines a favorite movie that encompasses these elements.

Of course, my quandaries are about all genres of movies, but for the purposes of this discussion, I often wonder what brought our readers to this site. No, I am not asking how you found out about us, but I wonder what made you become a fan of the Friday The 13th films and ultimately directed fans to read our stories we post on a daily basis. I am interested in finding out the history that led people to the story of Crystal Lake, Pamela Voorhees, and her son Jason. Were you in awe of the special effects as a child? Did you grow up during the 1980's and were lucky enough to be immersed in the constant marketing machine of Paramount for the franchise?

I became a fan instantly while walking through my family's living room one late night while the original film was being played on Beta in 1981 and became instantly drawn into the psychotic tale of Mrs. Voorhees. I later became hooked for life on the franchise with the transformation of Jason Voorhees from backwoods hermit to the unstoppable killing machine with a hockey mask. As I grew older, my glee for the creative death scenes and special effects switched to my pubescent love of the naked girls skinny dipping in the lake and eventually as I got out of high school and into college, I found a better appreciation for the humor and silliness that the overall story told.

It was in my late 20's and into my early 30's that I really found an appreciation for the history of productions of the films and the people that helped make them happen. That's why I created this site and continue to write about the franchise. Let us know why you started following the films by telling your personal stories and why you love them so much!
