Waxwork Records To Release Friday The 13th On Vinyl!

There has been a huge resurgence in the vinyl record industry within the last few years. Specifically, film scores for older Horror films have seemingly brought back that nostalgic love of the genre that many of our readers experienced in the 1970's and 1980's. We figured it was only a matter of time before a record company got their hands on Friday The 13th for a trip back in time, but it wasn't expected to be this soon.

Original 1983 vinyl release of the soundtracks for the first 3 films in the franchise.

While preparing to write a story about the rebirth (and sonic boom) of vinyl records, we reached out to franchise veteran, composer Harry Manfredini, to get his thoughts on the burgeoning vinyl record industry. We asked Harry if he would ever release his Friday The 13th scores on vinyl, and if he had ever been approached by a record company for his music. It was at that point that he blind sided this writer with the news that not only was he approached already, but a record is already in the works!

According to Harry, Waxwork Records is planning to release the soundtrack for Friday The 13th 1980 on vinyl first! He also mentioned that there is interest to release the first six films in the franchise on vinyl, but sales of the first film's score will dictate those plans of future releases. We also asked Harry if there are any of his other scores he would like to release on vinyl and he mentioned there is an interest in his House soundtrack!

So, there you go, vinyl and Friday  The 13th collectors. Look for more news on this exciting release by Waxwork Records in the near future, possibly this Friday, December 13th!

Big thank you to Harry for answering our questions and letting us know about this very cool news.
