Friday the 13th Director Supernatural

Director Marcus Nispel (Friday the 13th 2009) has had his critics with past remakes, such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th and even his yet to be released Conan The Barbarian. However, the man has a distinctive directing style that give his films a great look and feel. Now, Nispel is taking on something not of the remake variety.

According to Voltage Pictures, Mr. Nispel has signed on to helm the supernatural thriller Backmask. He will be teaming up with Insidious and Paranormal Activity Producer Steven Schneider on the film, which the duo hoped will bring the same box office success as their combined previous films. Below is the synopsis:

During a sex, drugs, and rock-fueled party, six small-town teenagers find an old vinyl record and decide to play it backwards in order to listen for any subliminal/satanic messages. Lo and behold, a seemingly malevolent spirit quickly infiltrates the group, wreaking havoc as it moves from one body to another. Eventually, however, it’s revealed that the spirit in question is actually trying to convey a message… and that the real source of horror isn’t particularly paranormal, but rather something (or someone) much closer to home.

The film begins shooting this July!

  2. Wow. Not a big fan of Marcus Nispel I see. |o|

Well, I do like what he did with Texas Chainsaw and Pathfinder was pretty cool, but Friday the 13th was just so blah to me. Hopefully Conan and this new movie are good or he is going to start really losing fans and studio backing.

  4. Sounds like a devil worship movie. I am not too into those, but I guess I would give it a try!
