Wickedbeard, Ari Lehman And Contest Too At Con

The convention season begins very soon and this year, Friday the 13th fans will have their fair share of options to meet the stars of their beloved film franchise across the country. We have already posted the most current list of Friday the 13th alumn making appearances on our 2011 Convention list, but that will keep growing in the next few months. Days Of The Dead is a new convention that is premiering this July in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Current attendees from the Friday the 13th franchise include Derek Mears (Jason Voorhees, Friday the 13th 2009), Monica Keena (Lori, Freddy vs Jason), Tom Savini (Special Effects) and John Carl Buechler (Director, Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood). Just announced new to the convention is Ari Lehman (Young Jason Voorhees, Friday the 13th 1980). The more guests the merrier for fans to meet, but the real treat will be something new and original for attendees to the convention.

Jeff "Wickedbeard" Cochran, who many of you know from stories I have written in the past, creates the most realistic character costumes in the genre community. His Jason Voorhees costumes are so realistic, they look like they were taken right from the sets of the production. Now, Wickedbeard will be hosting what should be a fun and joyous costume contest which will be judged by Derek Mears, Brian Steele and Melissa Cowan. Below is the official announcement. Make sure to check out the website for Days Of The Dead and get out to the event this July!

So when Days of the Dead 2011 sought out to put together the most bad-ass costume contest ever, the first step was to get a suitable host who knows a thing or two about costuming and costume creating to present it. To that end, Days of the Dead teamed up with the "King of Costumes," Jeff "Wickedbeard" Cochran to present Wickedbeard's Wicked Costume Showdown.

With one of the most recognized name in costuming on the convention circuit secured to head the event, Days of the Dead moved on to Step 2 of organizing what would hopefully turn out to be the mother of all costume contests - securing the most appropriate judges we could find to trust with the duty of crowning the champions of the mighty Wicked Costume Showdown. We're proud to say we have our people.

It is with great honor that Days of the Dead 2011 announces none other than Derek Mears (Friday the 13th, Predators), Brian Steele (Hellboy series, Predators), and Melissa Cowan (The Walking Dead) as the celebrity judges for Wickedbeard's Wicked Costume Showdown.
